“Lately, the most popular engagement rings we've been creating feature soft, romantic-shaped centre stones, such as oval, cushion, round brilliant, and pear cuts,” says Sevela, Showroom Manager at Cullen Jewellery’s Brisbane showroom. “And for wedding rings, diamond pavé and accent bands with round and oval stones have been our most popular.”

The movement toward soft shapes may have been set in motion by trend-setting celebrities such as Hailey Bieber and Ariana Grande, who both wear oval-cut diamonds on their hands, or reflect a broader shift toward timeless style over fast-fashion, particularly when it comes to lab grown diamonds.

Getting married isn’t just about following tradition. Lots of couples want a ring that reflects their personal values and individual sense of style.”

“We have many engagement rings and wedding bands that feature fairytale-like elements, from leaf-and-vine style accent stones to regal princess cut gems and tapering marquise cut stones,” says Sevela.

“Many of our clients gravitate toward solitaire rings with accent stones, as well as wedding bands with intricate pavé settings and accent stones for an ethereal look.”
